The target is clear: According to the Paris climate agreement adopted in 2015, global warming should be limited to 1,5 degrees, a maximum of two degrees compared to pre-industrial values. Only then can the negative consequences of climate change, including above all the increasing number of extreme weather events, be kept to a manageable level. To achieve this, humanity has only one thing left limited budget of CO2 emissions.
