We are also attached to Russia's nuclear drip

The debate about an oil and gas embargo against Russia is in full swing in the EU. "As quickly as possible" they want to get rid of Russian raw materials, they say. However, the dependency on Russia's uranium is being forgotten - or deliberately overlooked. It's bigger than expected though.

Oceans: Lime fertilization against climate change?

Experiment: Rock flour is said to increase the ocean's CO2 absorption

Geoengineering put to the test: An experiment on lime fertilization of the sea begins off Norway's coast. The addition of basic rock powder is said to make the seawater more alkaline and thus increase its CO2 absorption. This in turn could help slow down climate change. Researchers are now testing whether this method works and what consequences it could have for the marine environment in mesocosms, test environments floating in the ocean.

Nuclear Energy in India / Military Use

India conducted two nuclear weapons tests, the first in 1974 under Indira Gandhi, the second in May 1998 under Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Although the nuclear tests in May 1998 were always justified with reference to the Chinese threat (see Indo-Chinese border war), India is primarily pursuing an international status upgrade with the tests and is trying to underpin equality with China. All testing took place as underground testing at Pokhran Proving Grounds in Thar Desert of Rajasthan...

The exact number of Indian nuclear weapons is not known. It is estimated by the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists (Nuclear Notebook) and SIPRI that India has 130 to 140 nuclear warheads and enough fissile materials to produce up to 200 nuclear weapons. India has been modernizing its arsenal for a number of years. At least four new systems are currently in development. In addition, India is building two new plutonium production facilities...

Enzyme isolated from compost enables fast and efficient PET recycling

From plastic waste to a new raw material: researchers have isolated an enzyme from compost soil that breaks down PET plastic particularly quickly and efficiently. The active ingredient, dubbed PHL7, decomposes a PET sample twice as fast as previous enzymes and can break down complete PET packaging into its basic building blocks. These are so pure that new PET can be made from them, as experiments have shown. This opens up new opportunities for plastic recycling, the team reports.

13 May 1978 - (No correct INES class.) - AVR Jülich, GER

AtomkraftwerkePlaq

Jülich (North Rhine-Westphalia) / Serious incident in 1978

On May 13, 1978, a serious incident occurred. Water leaked into the reactor due to a leak in a heat exchanger. This had an impact on the demolition of the reactor, because it still contained "197 destroyed or atomized fuel elements", which were then embedded in concrete. Large amounts of strontium-90 and tritium are said to have escaped during the incident and got into the groundwater. Despite this, the reactor continued to operate at an excessively high temperature...

IMHO

It was not until 31 years later, when a whistleblower whistled loudly, that a commission of experts began its work and uncovered the deception of the public, the embellished entry on the INES list and the 36-year conspiracy to cover up the incident.

What do we learn from this? Without transparency, there is no clarification!

And there is something else we can learn from this. This is the only way nuclear energy can work: Concealment - Conspiracy - Cover-up ...

Open letter | Media | Press freedom | WiP

May has come, the trees are dying out ...

A flood of open letters and press freedom day

Concerned citizens addressed an open letter to Chancellor Olaf Scholz, urging him to maintain his policy of a steady hand and a cool head. Since then, we have seen a wave of open letters and Scholz has flip-flopped. It was press freedom day and Julian Assange is still in prison - because MIK and the United States, the land of the free and the brave, want it that way.

In the digital jungle and in the rushing press forest, there were articles on both topics and everyone agreed: the right to freedom of expression and freedom of the press are valuable assets in our democratic society and concern us all.

The right to freedom of expression is also used very actively, after the above-mentioned open letter, there was a tsunami of so-called "expression of opinion". The "Friends of MIC' Overwhelmed with comments, from mocking to gloomy-heavy and yet perceived as too light, to hateful, everything was there. A threatening roar came from deep in the lower drawers: "You'll probably still be allowed to defend yourself, right?".

The tenor of those who would rather see the chancellor in uniform and at the forefront: pacifists are always to blame for everything!

Completely normal, an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, the pattern has been known since the beginning of time and does not become better or more correct through constant repetition. Because they always get a headache when they think about it, don't want to put themselves in an awkward position, and/or are too cowardly to face the real dangers, they fight those who are different.

Please publish digitally only, it's unbearable that countless trees have to die to print something like this.

Be that as it may, a cross-party front of warmongers has prevailed and a few specimens of old German tank technology are almost on their way from Germany to Ukraine.

It's getting cramped in the digestive tract of the MIK, that's where they all cavort. Supposedly conservatives and liberals lounge around in their regular seats, the special democrats act as always as if they don't belong and just got lost. And now the Greens are pushing en masse into this honorable society, to the troughs of power.

Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one.
(Quote by Larry flynt, known worldwide since Dirty Harry V)

From one's own opinion to freedom of the press and 'double standards'.

Of course, freedom of expression and freedom of the press also includes the daily court reporting by the relevant media about the funny Elon Musk and our favorite horror clown Don Trumpl as well as all the other upright pillars of our society. It doesn't matter whether one of these VIPs said something important or not, it's just a matter of everyone's favorite constant drip that erodes the stone and the brain. These colorful papers also like to comment on the fates of Putin's upright opponents, the death-defying Alexei Navalny and Volodymyr Zelensky, the steadfast President of Ukraine and courageous defender of Kiev. Both play masterfully on the keyboard of the Western media and love to be played with it.

The situation is completely different when it comes to beleaguered reporters and journalists in western countries. Just like in the East, journalists are being killed and imprisoned here in the West, and what is happening? Not much, a short report is published in the daily news and crocodile tears are regularly shed on Press Freedom Day. Those responsible always get off lightly. Regardless of whether it is the client of the murderers from Saudi Arabia or the jailer from Ankara, nothing happens. Why should it? Presidents of the United States have been holding Julian Assange and others captive for years and nothing is happening.

And our press people, they don't let such unpleasant stories ruin their next interview appointment or even their careers...

I can eat as much as I want to throw up!
(Quote by Max Lieberman, 1933)

Reporters Without Borders

Freedom of the press - why?

Information is the first step to change - that's why authoritarian governments are not the only ones who fear free and independent reporting.

Where the media cannot report on injustice, abuse of power or corruption, there is no public control, no free formation of opinion and no peaceful reconciliation of interests.

Freedom of the press is the basis of a democratic society.

“Everyone has the right to freedom of expression; this right includes freedom to express opinions without controversy and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas by any means of communication, regardless of frontiers.” Article 19 of the United Nations “Universal Declaration of Human Rights” (December 1948).

Wikipedia

Press freedom

Freedom of the press, or more precisely external freedom of the press, is the right of broadcasting institutions, the press and other media to exercise their activities unhindered, above all to publish news and opinions uncensored by the state.

Freedom of the press or media should guarantee freedom of information, free formation and expression of opinion, pluralistic diversity of opinion and thus democratic decision-making, as well as transparency and control of politics by public opinion.

The idea of freedom, especially for the news and opinion press, was developed particularly during the Enlightenment period.

In Germany, Article 5 of the Basic Law for the Federal Republic of Germany guarantees freedom of the press together with freedom of opinion, freedom of broadcasting and freedom of information. Today, media law regulates details of legal issues, especially press law...
