The Urenco Report

SOFA (Immediate nuclear phase-out) Münster has now published a second, updated and expanded edition of the Urenco Report. Title: "Urenco: Uranium enrichment plant in Gronau and centrifuge research in Jülich - a threat to nuclear phase-out and peace". On 51 pages, the global business of the uranium enricher Urenco is traced using publicly accessible sources and the connections to Gronau and Jülich are established. It's about Urenco's problematic customer base, the military dimension of uranium enrichment and centrifuge development, the unresolved nuclear waste problem and the dangerous plans to build new small and large reactors - and it's also about Urenco's nuclear business in Russia, Ukraine and the United Arab Emirates - our supposed new energy ally.

Greens against nuclear transport from Garching to Ahaus

The Greens in the Bavarian state parliament reject the transport of spent fuel elements from the FRM II research reactor in Garching to the Ahaus interim storage facility in North Rhine-Westphalia. "So it makes absolutely no sense to carry out an expensive and highly dangerous transport across the country," said Claudia Köhler on Tuesday after a visit to Ahaus. "The Ahaus interim storage facility has been approved until 2036. What will come after that is unclear." Before final storage in a final repository that does not even exist, the nuclear waste would also have to be reworked ...

Natural gas from Germany

Putin's propaganda against fracking

For years, the Russian government has supported environmental groups fighting fracking. In Germany, too, the promotion of domestic natural gas had no political chance – until now. Will the impending embargo change the situation?

So reported the former NATO Secretary General Fogh Rasmussen As early as 2014, Russia had supported environmental protection organizations "in order to maintain Europe's dependence on Russian gas".

Corona | Putin | information war | Media | WiP

economy of attention - 1 | 2

The first part was about the audience's attention in the face of different scenarios that are, however, quite comparable in their effect. The conclusion: when there is a rumble, a crash and sparks fly, people are wide awake and fully engaged. But if there is nothing exciting to see or hear apart from a concerned commentator and a few angry residents, no one is interested, even if the information is perhaps vital for the viewers' survival.

Media:

The truth and all the other victims

Two years ago, Corona pushed all other important topics out of the headlines.

Since then, the number of Corona infections has risen to dizzying heights and the number of Corona deaths only knows one direction anyway, uphill.

"So far, around the world 482 million cases of infection have been counted worldwide. This compares to 6,0 million deaths with diagnosed COVID-19 Illness."
Quote from www.corona-zahlen-heute.de from 01 April 2022

At the beginning of April 2021 the nationwide seven-day incidence at approx. 130 and existing protective measures were tightened. Today we are at one 7-day incidence from 1500 and all rotate freely ...

Since February 24, however, Putin's war has been raging and COVID-19 has had its day as a hot topic.

The truth died early, as is well known, long before the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Within a month are more than 23.000 people have been killed in this fratricidal war...

It's not about weighing the dead against each other, but about making it clear how the attention economy works.

Peaceful coexistence? Water under the bridge!

Celebrity slapping could become the new popular sport.

The slaps will be handed out and received in publicity on the stands and/or even on the open stage. It's good for the ratings, and this form of public relations is really cheap.

When a celebrity dishes out, nothing happens. He just has to apologise ruefully afterwards, and that is of course very welcome by the audience. When a wannabe celebrity hits a real celebrity, nothing much happens at first either, both share the interest of the yellow press and all in all we have a real win-win situation.

If there is permanent damage to the slapped, it could be costly for the thug, because how is he supposed to prove that the slapped had major damage before the slap?

Joking aside, we are obviously in times of a rising spiral of violence.

The cameras love it!

The language of Nuclear lobby or who hid the coconut?

In mid-March 2020, I read one in World Nuclear News (WNN), the nuclear industry's most important news organ Articles about the language and how the use of certain words in technical contexts can create ugly images in listeners' minds.

Words with Atom* generate e.g. images of Atomic bomb explosions and are therefore no longer desirable. Familiar and fear-inducing phrases such as Release of radioactivity are now paraphrased to make them sound harmless: Irregularities in the operation of the pressure restraint or something like that.

The entire communication of the nuclear lobby has changed. Bad words like atomic power or atomic energy are carefully avoided. In the external representations of nuclear industry as well as in the articles of pro-atom media and of course also in the parts of the Wikipedia that are directly or indirectly controlled by the nuclear industry, atomic power has long since become kernel- or core power (Kernkraft). These power of the kernels is of course CO2-free and at best produces head cinema pictures of wonderfully delicious nuts. And since nuts have been among the most popular and sought-after foods of primates since time immemorial - their taste and energy delighting human ancestors before they had even developed a concept of being human, nuts naturally have a thoroughly positive connotation and at best trigger salivation.

The whole monkey gang roars: "Bravo, excellent, good trick!"

The whole gang of Nuclear lobbyists thinks it's great when the topic isn't written at all anymore and they can do whatever they want completely undisturbed. Just like between 1942 and 45, when the Second World War was raging and people were busy surviving the war. The Media were firmly embedded and had no particular interest in questioning decisions made by their governments.

Questions about the sense or nonsense of the armament were and are considered unpatriotic.

As always...

So while we're distracted by all kinds of attractive images, the climate of our pretty, blue home planet is going downhill at an accelerating rate. Everything has it's price.

A few pictures to remember.

Influence and campaigns of the nuclear lobby

Atomic energy has always only been accepted by a minority of the German population. After the Chernobyl and Fukushima disasters, their acceptance has fallen further. Politicians, the nuclear industry and their lobby organizations have been trying to counteract this for decades through public relations and image campaigns, mostly with little success.

The greatest success of the German nuclear lobby with the lifetime extension in 2010 was followed shortly thereafter by the decision to phase out in 2011, the most bitter defeat ...

Wikipedia

information war

Information warfare, or information warfare for short, is a term for the targeted use and manipulation of controlled information in order to achieve advantages over competitors and opponents in business or politics. This also includes influencing the media with false information (fake news), partial information or propaganda with the aim of manipulating the media in one's own interest.
In the open media, information warfare is a form of cyberwar.

Algorithms (social bots) are used more and more often to falsify profiles on social networks, collect information or spread it in a targeted manner. Illiberal regimes, but also demagogues, need not silence dissenting opinions if they succeed in disturbing and confusing; thus a "censorship through noise" takes place...

*

Disinformation

Disinformation is the targeted spreading of false information, the aim of which is to deceive society, individual groups or individuals in terms of political or economic interests. “Disinformation” rarely also refers to the misinformation itself (considered as an attempt to deceive) (e.g. “spreading harmful disinformation”). The information transmitted is not only untrue according to objective standards, but is deliberately put into the world by the author for the purpose of deception. The disinformation can be spread, for example, via mass media, which is also referred to as media manipulation. The disinformation is either outright lying or indirect through subtle suppression, omission or distraction from verified facts, or by implying false opinions.

Disinformation is used in a targeted manner in numerous areas of politics and business. Many secret services have their own departments for the falsification and dissemination of information. In the military field, disinformation is used to deceive the enemy, for example to lead him to make incorrect decisions through false information about one's own troop strengths or their spatial distribution. Consumers are influenced not to buy a competitor's product by the spread of rumors or publicly available false information...
