7 activists arrested after protest at Flamanville nuclear reactor
In France, Greenpeace activists have entered the EPR reactor under construction in Flamanville to protest pro-nuclear candidates in the French presidential election.
Seven Greenpeace activists were arrested during the action. They had hung a banner reading "Nuclear power: Macron irresponsible" near the reactor under construction.
The construction of the new nuclear power plant in Normandy began at the end of 2007 and should have been connected to the grid long ago. Completion is 11 years overdue. According to the French electricity company EDF, the costs now amount to 12,7 billion euros. Originally, 3,3 billion euros had been estimated for the construction.
Greenpeace France has called for an independent assessment of the viability of so-called EPR nuclear reactors.

It sounds as if a single small atomic bomb wouldn't be so bad after all. This is 100% wrong and an insanely dangerous debate, this "we can theorize about it" opens the door to the use of nuclear weapons. Because everything that is researched must also be tested. Mankind has over 2000 atomic bomb tests worldwide to thank for this logic. Thank you! But no thanks.
"With a well-aimed nuclear bomb, an otherwise potentially long-lasting conflict could be ended very quickly" or "Uranium ammunition, why not? It works, doesn't it?" or, or, or. Humanity has walked this crazy path before and decided not to go any further, and that was a good thing. Because a first small bomb here, a second small bomb there, and in no time Pandora's box can no longer be sealed.
Nuclear weapons should be abolished and every horror clowndisguised as a politician who tries to get his hands on the power of the bomb must be outlawed. How we can achieve this is worth thinking about and researching.

Damn long time ago …
Forty-three years is a long time, things can slip through the sieve.
43 years ago there was a nuclear accident at the local nuclear power plant in Harrisburg Three mile island. Harrisburg is the capital of the US state of Pennsylvania and is located 170 miles west of New York and 120 miles north of Washington, the US capital.
On 28. March 1979 there was a partial core meltdown in reactor block 2, in which, according to the figures in the NAMS 3.7 million terabecquerels (Tbq) radioactivity were released. This most serious incident in a commercial nuclear power plant in the United States of America was irritatingly only classified in category INES 5.
That was 7 years before that Super disaster from Chernobyl who as Category INES 7 was classified and at which 5,2 million terabecquerels (Tbq) got into the environment. Almost everyone can remember this accident in Ukraine, even if Chernobyl happened before they were born.
The reason why people cannot remember the accident in the USA is that, for example, even authors of the German-language Wikipedia forget here and there to mention this second most serious nuclear accident in the world.
At the super meltdown category INES 7 in Fukushima "only" 1.59 million terabecquerels (Tbq) released radioactivity.
Why did Harrisburg with 3.7 million Tbq end up in category INES 5, while Fukushima, with 1.59 million Tbq was classified as INES 7?
It sounds really strange, like "The world is looking for the super meltdown".
Winner, the USSR, which earned first prize for the most terrible meltdown. The second winner is Japan for the most attractive meltdown of all time. The USA with a rather below-average performance was hardly mentioned under further follow-up ...
But that's exactly the point; in Fukushima there was something to see, first the tsunami and unspeakable human suffering, then the explosions of the 3 reactors on three different days, fear and drama until fainting, TV cameras love that! This is prime eye fodder for our "dear viewers out there at the screens".
In Harrisburg, all that could be seen were the helplessly dumb faces of the so-called people in charge and perhaps also the panic among the population, for which, however, there was no really discernible reason. Reactor 2 had simply given up, let out its last sigh, blown the invisible highly toxic dust into the air and let the contaminated cooling water run into the Susquehanna River.
No boom and no lurid pictures, that's not sexy!
And so the PR fuzzies of the nuclear industry had an easy time keeping this incident out of the media.
The mother of all Nuclear lobbyists, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), created the International Nuclear Event Scale (INES) , an instrument that prevents any clarity and transparency for the comparability of nuclear accidents from the outset.

Historical Information
Shortly after the end of the Vietnam War with its environmental consequences, the topic of environmental warfare was put on the agenda of the United Nations by the then Soviet Union in 1974. This led to the drafting of the Convention, which was adopted by the UN General Assembly as Resolution 31/72 on December 10, 1976. From May 18, 1977 to October 5, 1978, 47 states signed the convention, which then came into force on October 5, 1978 for the signatory states.
Protection of the natural environment from the effects of hostilities was reaffirmed in 1977 by the First Additional Protocol to the Geneva Conventions.
