Climate protectionists had good reasons to celebrate at the beginning of the year: Vattenfall shut down its coal-fired power plant in the Hamburg district of Moorburg, and some power plant units in the Rhineland also went offline. But of all days, many other coal-fired power plants in the country were running at full speed - as if they wanted to show what they could do with all their might. Power plant operator Leag, for example, reported that its large-scale plants in Lusatia are working at full capacity.
