The ban on nuclear weapons will finally become universal international law on January 22, 2021. Against the opposition of the federal government.
On Saturday, Honduras became the 50th country to ratify the treaty on the global ban on nuclear weapons of mass murder passed by the UN General Assembly in July 2017. Nuclear Weapons Prohibition Treaty
The Nuclear Weapons Prohibition Treaty (abbreviated AVV, English: Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, abbreviated TPNW) is an international agreement that prohibits the development, production, testing, acquisition, storage, transport, stationing and use of nuclear weapons, as well as the threat thereof. In December 2016, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution with a mandate to negotiate such a treaty. The first round of negotiations took place in New York in March 2017, the second in July 2017. 132 of the 124 member states took part in the first conference and 193 in the second, including Austria as a co-initiator, Switzerland, Iran and Saudi Arabia . The official and de facto nuclear powers and the NATO countries, with the exception of the Netherlands, did not take part in the negotiations.
