The Grohnde, Grundremmingen C and Brokdorf nuclear power plants will go offline at the end of the year, and Isar 2022, Neckarwestheim 2 and Emsland (Lingen) at the end of 2. Undoubtedly, this is also a great success of the anti-nuclear movement's decades of work. - But is everything okay now?
No. URENCO's uranium enrichment plant (UAA) in Gronau continues to produce nuclear fuel for over 30 nuclear power plants worldwide. The decommissioned reactors and the temporarily stored nuclear waste continue to radiate, have to be secured and represent a great danger for millennia. Other countries want to build more nuclear power plants and the FRG is helping to finance this through EU membership. Countless billions of euros that are earmarked for overcoming the climate catastrophe and for expanding alternative energy sources are wasted on highly dangerous technology. Despite the nuclear phase-out in Germany, we are surrounded by nuclear power plants. The next major nuclear accident is coming.
None of this concerns those responsible for the construction and operation of nuclear power plants in the FRG up to now. They could limit themselves to finally helping, responsibly, to secure the decommissioned plants and to helping to find the least bad "solution" for dealing with the nuclear waste they produce in certain newspapers against alternative energy and are moving their reactors out of history's moth box for allegedly saving the climate, trying to save their old, well-paid and prestigious jobs and diverting the money earmarked for climate protection into their own projects and pockets .
But it gets worse. A construction period of ten to twenty years can be assumed for large nuclear power plants. For this reason, too, they will come too late for climate protection, because energy production has to be converted very quickly.
Macron brings mini-HTRs (1) into play in France and wants to promote them massively. Wolfram König, Head of the Federal Office for the Safety of Nuclear Waste Management (BASE), says: “The reactors that French President Macron sponsors are basically old wine in new bottles. The concepts have often been ventilated for more than 50 years. The truth is, it would take thousands of them just to replace the existing nuclear power plants. Even if the name sounds cute, the consequences are not: radioactive substances are distributed in the country, the amount of waste is increased and the question of protection against terrorist intentions is also intensified "(2).
Nuclear power for the military!
In the FAZ of October 19, 2021, Konrad Schuller also very clearly names the security policy consequences of a massive expansion of this Small Modular Reactor (SMR):
“But what's worse is that someone could loot one of those innumerable reactors and use the fuel to build bombs. In any case, the authors of the BASE study believe that this danger is real. Small reactors would be more attractive to bomb makers than classic nuclear power plants. Because of their sheer number, they would be difficult to monitor, especially in wild lands. In addition, because they are so small, they need particularly highly enriched uranium. But that's good for the bomb.
But who would like the bomb? - It is worth taking a look at the customers who would have to buy the new technology before anyone else if the climate is to be helped. The ten largest CO2 emitters in the world include India and Indonesia, as well as Iran and Saudi Arabia. The ten countries with the highest per capita emissions include Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. The new mini-reactors would have to be everywhere if they are to help the climate. Does anyone want that? "
A few days before this was written, Abdul Qadeer Khan (10), the "father of the Pakistani atomic bomb" died on October 2021, 3. He had learned his trade at URENCO, scouted construction plans, production and delivery options for the manufacture of radioactive material and centrifuge components and, through its global network, not only supplied Pakistan, the apartheid regime in South Africa and several other dictatorial countries with it. (4) The secret services of several states had their hands full for decades to prevent the worst. These problems would arise for one massive expansion of mini-reactors a hundredfold.
In order to maintain a nuclear arsenal independently, not only France and Great Britain, but all countries depend on a civil nuclear energy sector. This is the real driving force behind the newly envisaged construction of nuclear power plants. So anyone who builds and operates nuclear power plants is doubly guilty.
The curious, bumbling German atomic friends of "Gaufrei" said it openly in their circular on November 5, 2021, what the planned mini HTRs would be:
“An HTR micro-reactor under 40 tons is being developed for use in the front, which can be set up in three days and dismantled just as quickly. Trucks or C-17 planes can transport it. BWXT Ad.Tech and X-Energy are expected to finish the design by March 22nd. Another small reactor with 5 MWe is in work for the air base in Alaska as a heat pipe model ".

Events and Alternative Nobel Prize for Vladimir Slivyak
This year we as BI once again held two well-attended events. A vigil with 11 people was held on March 50th for the tenth anniversary of Fukushima. In an interview with the local edition of “Westfälischer Anzeiger” (WA), I said, among other things, about the planned dismantling of the THTR: “After the THTR was shut down, we asked for a nuclide atlas so that, in the event of a possible dismantling, it would be clear at which points the radioactivity was particularly high That was rejected. Dismantling would produce radioactive dust and waste that would have to be transported and stored elsewhere. This is a major source of danger. In any case, the operator would have to present a comprehensive dismantling concept so that it can be seen by the public and in the parliamentary space could be discussed and assessed comprehensively. Only then should a decision be made as to whether it really makes sense to dismantle it soon "(1).
To mark the 35th anniversary of Chernobyl, a bicycle tour with 25 participants took place on April 80 from the Hamm main station to the THTR, where several speeches were given (2).
Another great success is the awarding of the "Alternative Nobel Prize" to our long-time comrade Vladimir Slivyak (3) from Ecodefence (Russia), who not only demonstrated in Gronau, Gorleben and on railroad tracks against Castor transports, but also often came to Hamm and with us as The speaker was a guest. This award is a great recognition of his decades of high-risk commitment and we congratulate Vladimir warmly!

THTR and its nuclear waste: "slight deformations"
On June 28, 2021, the state government of North Rhine-Westphalia answered a very extensive request from the parliamentary group of the Greens on the nuclear industry in North Rhine-Westphalia. The 99 pages of printed matter 17/14380 also contain some information about the THTR and Ahaus, which I am particularly interested in at this point (1).
On pages 30 to 31, it is relatively unspectacular that the amount of radioactive waste at the THTR has not changed during the previous "safe enclosure" and that this operation is basically approved for an unlimited period , State and operating company, no further contracts have been concluded. However, negotiations have been started for the period after 2014, which deal with the future schedule, procedure and cost allocation. The state government continues:
"For the dismantling of the plant, a dismantling permit must be available in advance, which is issued by the State Atomic Energy Agency (MWIDE). On the basis of contractual agreements, handling the THTR reactor has incurred costs of around 441 million since the end of commercial operation. In detail, the financial contributions from the federal government amounted to around 133 million euros, from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia around 152 million euros and from the shareholders of HKG around 156 million euros. This includes around 753 million euros for the dismantling of the facility (as of December 450,9, 31.12.2020). The distribution of the costs is the subject of negotiations. All costs related to the removal of the THTR and the rehabilitation of its premises are included in the total costs mentioned in the answer to question II.G.7. "
In 2013, the dismantling costs were stated in Bundesdrucksache 17/14588 at 404 million euros. This means that the price forecast by the government and operators has risen by 349 million euros in nine years and you don't have to be a prophet to determine that the costs will rise very sharply in the future. The dismantling of the twenty times smaller AVR Jülich is currently quoted at almost one billion euros.
I refrain from making any further comment on the unrealistic costs at this point and direct my attention to the intermediate fuel storage facility (BEZ) in Ahaus, where 305 castor casks from the THTR and 24 casks from other sources are stored. When asked by the Greens, the state government wrote:
"The documentation on the drums placed in the containers provides information on abnormalities on the drum units at the time of storage. According to this, 120 out of a total of 583 drum containers show slight abnormalities such as low levels of corrosion and slight deformation. "
In response to the question about the total amount of radioactive waste, the state government states "383,9 t gross" for HKG in a table. Unfortunately, this information is not specified and is therefore not very meaningful.

HTR-PM in China: "... watch what happens"
The high-temperature reactor (HTR-PM), which has been under construction in China on the Shandong peninsula (Shidaowan) since 2012, is said to go into operation this year. Whether this will really happen is unclear after the delays so far.
If you look at the report of the enthusiastic nuclear fans of "Biokernsprit" about their communication with the future Chinese operators of this reactor, one can be terrified. On April 15, 2021 they wrote in all seriousness on their homepage "gaufrei": "When asked when a GAU test is planned: about two years after commissioning, when we have been able to study the thermal behavior of this new type of reactor sufficiently. A worst-case scenario: intentionally cause all cooling and safety precautions to fail and watch what happens. If the reactor cools itself down and shuts down, you've won. "
On January 4, 2021, World Nuclear News (WNN) reported that tests had begun in the two demonstration plants, simulating the temperatures and pressures to which the reactor systems would be exposed during normal operation. These hot functional tests lasted about two months. According to WNN, the tests on the steam turbine in non-nuclear operation were carried out in August 2021. On August 21, 2021, the HTR-PM was loaded with nuclear fuel for the first time. In the days that followed, around 104.000 spherical fuel elements were installed. In the future, 420.000 elements would be required to completely fill a single block. On September 12, 2021, a self-sustaining chain reaction took place in a block for the first time. That is, he became critical. As World Nuclear News (WNN) announced, the second reactor block on November 11, 2021 also became critical. According to this, the HTR-PM in China would have roughly reached the stage in which the THTR in Hamm was in September 1983.

Typing for Ippen: media censorship
I have often reported about Dirk Ippen, publisher of the Hammer local newspaper "Westfälischer Anzeiger" (WA). The 81-year-old publisher of the fifth-largest newspaper group in the FRG, who is politically located in the reactionary gray area on the right edge of the CDU, had incorporated the venerable left-liberal "Frankfurter Rundschau" a few years ago and, moreover, has been harassing the readership in his comments for many years with a highly dubious right-wing worldview Last year he bought the "investigative team" from the US media company Buzzfeed, which immediately began to research the competition "Bild" newspaper: Bild editor-in-chief Julian Reichelt is said to have abused his power against female employees planned publication of the research in the "Frankfurter Rundschau", Ippen stopped the contribution and thus triggered a medium earthquake in the media landscape. The censored editors defended themselves in the FR with a statement against this publisher intervention:
“We, the editors of the Frankfurter Rundschau, state that the ban contradicts all the rules of independent reporting. The decision violates the principle of the separation of editorial staff and publisher. We support the letter of protest from the investigative team to the publisher Dirk Ippen. Editorial independence is the indispensable basis for quality journalism, trust is its most valuable asset. This must never be violated "(2).
The taz wrote about this process: "Abuses should be uncovered, but just not in their own industry" (3). In addition, Ippen and Springer are business partners. A partial edition of "Bild" is printed in an Ippen print shop. On the other hand, they are also competitors in Munich, so that Ippen may have been afraid of the powerful Springer company. To declare yourself a haven of freedom of the press, but to muzzle your own editorial team is highly untrustworthy. The renewed scandal about the "Bild" nevertheless drew its circles and here the behavior of Ippen came into focus nationwide. Right.

Group SS. Right-wing terrorist at Hammer Police, part 2
An incident in Hamm on July 23, 2021 caused a national sensation when a group of completely non-violent Christian climate activists on their way from Gorleben to Garzweiler was brutally attacked by a massive contingent of police officers from Hamm, while it was previously at the 19 stations of the Pilgrimage was not a problem. I belonged to the group that wanted to greet the pilgrims in the premises of the Forum for Environment and Just Development (FUgE) and was quite shocked when I heard the reports of the traumatized pilgrims (1).
For me, this attack showed once again what kind of brainwave the Hammer Police have become. In the last THTR circular and several times in the national monthly magazine "Graswurzelrevolution" I wrote about the hammer police officer Thorsten Wollschläger, who is currently standing in Stuttgart-Stammheim before the court for supporting the right-wing terrorist group S.
This group is said to have planned attacks on prominent politicians and refugees. Together with the 12 group members, he was born on February 13, 2020.
His predilection for medieval murderous tools and symbols has long since corresponded with the hierarchical rank badges, uniforms and 22 different police batons, which can be found on the homepage of the "Police History Collection" of the retired Police Chief Inspector Siegfried Paul, which is supported by the Hammer Police Presidents. Already on November 23rd In 2001 Wollschläger wrote in the guest book there: "Really well done". The historical revisionist and fascism belittling parts of this police history collection, which I criticized in detail on my homepage "Machtvonunten" on about ten pages (1), obviously confirmed and supported Wollschläger's right-wing extremist worldview even then.
While the contents on the police history page very clearly reveal a lack of willingness to classify historical contexts, the presiding judge at the Stuttgart-Stammheim Higher Regional Court tried on the third and fourth day of the trial to put together the signs of right-wing views of Wollschläger with the help of the finds confiscated during the house search. The exhibits included stickers, buttons and a T-shirt with emblems of the "Identitarian Movement" as well as a photo of the front of the Hammer Police Headquarters from 1937, enlarged by Wollschläger, with two large swastika flags and a picture of Hitler - from the police history page .
Legends
When asked about the medals and patches with SS skulls found on him, Wollschläger explained that his uncle and grandpa served in the SS skull division and the police and that his family had "suffered a lot" under fascism Survey showed how much the family legends shaped Wollschläger and how uncritically he accepted the stories passed on there: "I regard them as clean soldiers. My uncle didn't make any mess, he told me". During the search of Wollschläger's apartment, a letter dated March 2, 2006 to the SS troop comradeship "Totenkopf" was found in which he expressed his willingness to become active as a younger member in order to "counter the twisting of history" and the "memory of to keep our soldiers upright ".
NSU contacts?
Wollschläger got to know the S. group through Thomas N., who was also accused, at a medieval camp in Katharinenhof on Fehmarn. An SS convalescent home was located there between 1939 and 1945 as part of the SS Nordhav Foundation, which Reinhard Heydrich bought. He was SS-Obergruppenführer, General of the Police and one of the main organizers of the Holocaust and headed the Wannsee Conference, at which the murder of all Jews was decided. His wife Lina Heydrich, born on Fehmarn, was a sadistic and militant fascist and ran the Imbria Parva guesthouse on Fehmarn until 1969, where she often housed her husband's former SS comrades at reunion celebrations.
Wollschläger had certainly not only parked his caravan because of a picturesque medieval market in Katarinenhof. And was it a coincidence that Uwe Böhnhardt, Uwe Mundlos and Beate Zschäpe from NSU went on vacation to the same place every year? They did not hide there and had a comfortable environment for them.
Wollschläger's attempts to portray himself as a harmless fan of the Middle Ages failed in court. However, his relationship with Fehmarn has not yet been further investigated by the court. The defenders of Group S., some of them from the right-wing spectrum, speak a clear language: Günther Herzogenrath-Amelung represented the Nazi war criminal Erich Priebke, who with his SS men in the massacre in the Ardeatine Caves near Rome 335 civilians murdered. The group S. thus brings together actors who have many ideological similarities. According to official information, the process will last until mid-2023 (!).
The police headquarters in Hamm is under closer observation after the arrest of the right-wing terrorist employee Wollschläger. In addition, there is the cooperation of police officers with dubious right-wing security companies such as Asgaard in Hamm-Uentrop, which operate internationally in war zones and are accused of betraying secrets and misappropriating weapons. And already we are at the next chapter of the apparently never-ending story ...

Dear readers! - Obituary
My mother Inge Blume has witnessed the entire history of our citizens' initiative since 1975. Unfortunately, she died on October 4th at the age of 94. During the first ten years she was often very worried and sometimes anxious because she was immediately aware of my political activities and actions, which were quite unusual for the time. But when the THTR disaster control plan was publicly discussed in Hamm in 1985 and the accident happened in Uentrop a year later, she and my father Kurt jumped over their own shadow and since then have participated in demonstrations and blockades at the THTR, brought tea and helped organize.
Since she danced in two dance circles in Uentrop and was active in the Evangelical Church, she promoted understanding for us there, passed on our leaflets and signature lists and even mobilized for our non-violent actions. In this way we were able to reach people with our topics who would otherwise not have found their way to us.
In the 90s Inge was a member of the "Women for Peace" and "Women in Black" and took part in actions against militarism and the participation of the FRG in wars. She went on long bike tours through East Germany, blocked barracks access and discussed with soldiers.
This great development is all the more remarkable because Inge, like all other young people, was brought up to be cautious, adaptive and authoritarian thinking during the time of fascist barbarism.
In recent years she has enjoyed reading the "Jüdische Allgemeine" weekly newspaper, to which I have subscribed, and has learned about the great wealth of Jewish culture, which she did not understand much in her youth and in the post-war years. Surviving Jews and their descendants also report there authentically of the innumerable unbelievable crimes and recalled some repressed aspects of the family history.This gave me the impetus for an extensive research and journey on the traces of the 50.000 murdered Jews of Thessaloniki.
I look back with great gratitude and will miss Inge very much.
