Billions | climate change

After 100 billion for armaments

Lindner: 200 billion euros for climate change

Federal Minister of Finance Christian Lindner wants to provide around 2026 billion euros for the climate-friendly conversion of the country by 200 in the medium-term financial plan. These should be used, for example, for electric charging stations, hydrogen production or the curbing of the electricity price by abolishing the surcharge for renewable energies...

War in Europe – 1 | 2 | 3

Putin the Great - leader of all lemings

Nearly as tall, death-defying Selenski is hot on his heels and seems to be playing the role of his life, the leader of the suicide-flying squad in The Life of Brian.

So both have found their role and are in no way inferior to each other. Both have mastered the martial language of bellicose warlords, make unachievable maximum demands and are ready to let everyone else go to the extreme.

Is this the start of "The world is looking for the super monkey"?

Initially, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin was the clear favorite, but the longer the drama drags on, the better Vladimir Alexandrovich Zelensky can put himself in the right light. He's younger, more likeable, braver and above all: the cameras love him. He's the white knight standing his ground in the middle of a fight, and this brave little fella really wants to hold out to the end, standing in place, in the eye of the storm. Vladimir Aleksandrovich Zelensky is the young Luke Skywalker, while "Putin, the once flawless democrat" looks more and more like the grumpy Darth Vader at his huge table in distant Moscow.

Well, Vladimir, you got the ass card, and you gave it to yourself.

Hasta la vista, baby.

Vladimir finally admit that Vladimir is better than you.

A few more words on my own behalf.

According to the log files, has had a few hundred hits per month from Russia over the past few months, but not a single hit from Russia has been registered since the beginning of March.

Apparently is blocked in Russia.

Vladimir you are a wimp...

But I say thank you for that, there can't be any better advertising.

Ukraine: Nuclear power plant under fire, fire extinguished

A fire has broken out at the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant in Ukraine. It's now deleted. According to regional authorities, the power plant was captured by Russian troops.

Russia | Nuclear weapons

These three men have the power over Russia's atomic bombs

- Russian President Vladimir Putin keeps playing with the word "nuclear weapon" in his speeches.
- Alarm bells are ringing in the West, and fears of nuclear war are growing.
- But who actually owns the nuclear suitcases in Russia and thus has the power to use nuclear weapons?

Statement by peace, anti-nuclear and environmental organizations

Ukraine War: Coal and nuclear power are not alternatives to Russian gas. Energy independence now!

We demand a clear commitment from the federal government to phase out nuclear power and coal. The nuclear and coal deals with Russia and worldwide must end. Importing natural gas from other countries is not a solution. Instead, the expansion of renewable energies must be promoted with a massive immediate emergency program!

Putin's attack on Ukraine, which violates international law, poses new challenges for all of us - including in energy policy. However, we must not lose sight of one thing: the climate crisis. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and the UN made this clear to us in their statement on February 28, 2022. Repeating old mistakes now would be a catastrophic mistake.

Climate protection and the energy transition are also necessary for reasons of peace and security policy. We can only achieve energy sovereignty through domestic energy production from decentralized renewable energies. 100 billion euros for upgrading the Bundeswehr harms the climate and peace in Europe - we could invest this money sustainably in our energy independence.

We do not need an extension of the service life of nuclear power plants. On the contrary: As is becoming very clear in the Ukraine, nuclear power plants pose a considerable additional danger in the event of a military attack. A second Chernobyl would be the opposite of climate protection – this danger applies
exclude it for a sustainable future!

In the course of the economic sanctions against Russia, the contracts for highly enriched Russian uranium at the Garching research reactor must also be terminated. Uranium transports from the enrichment plant in Gronau to Russia must also be stopped immediately.

Germany must no longer export the dangers of nuclear energy. A timely phase-out of fuel element production in Lingen and uranium enrichment in Gronau must now be initiated with appropriate legislation. According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, greenhouse gases must be massively reduced in this decade. This cannot be achieved with a later phase-out of coal or the import of liquid gas.

We demand a radical energy transition and the accelerated implementation of climate protection measures to comply with the 1,5 degree limit!
Against the rollback to coal and nuclear. Against fracking and liquid gas imports. For an accelerated energy transition!

We call for participation in the upcoming actions of the peace movement as well as in the commemoration and protest events on the occasion of the
11th Fukushima Anniversary (March 11, 2022)
at the nuclear power plant sites in Lingen and Neckarwestheim and in Berlin.

War in Europe – 1 | 2 | 3

Only Russia can stop Putin's war

Ukraine will not be able to expel Russian troops in the short to medium term because Vladimir Putin is in a self-created predicament in which he sees no alternative to escalating violence. He is about to lose everything, power, dignity, pride and honor, and the longer he is stuck in this situation, the more dangerous he becomes.

Vladimir Putin has risked his entire life's work on a backward-looking project, restoring the supposed former greatness and power of the Soviet Union or the former Tsarist Empire.

Megalomania and backwardness are typical of formerly powerful rulers and institutions at the end of their time. This can of course be observed particularly well in historical retrospect among the most diverse actors in world history. To give examples, I could go through almost the entire alphabet, from A for nuclear lobby to Z for Zealot.

Neither the Ukrainians, nor the Europeans, nor the United Nations can free Putin from his predicament and end the fratricidal war in Ukraine.

All socially relevant groups in Russia are now challenged. fathers and mothers, wives and children of soldiers who fear for the lives of their sons, husbands and fathers; the oligarchs who fear for their fortunes and millions; and last but not least the military, who are not willing to sacrifice their souls for this madness, they are all called upon to speak up now: "No war" ...

Inconsistent energy policy

Independent process of the energy transition

By and large, the energy transition has been successful since 2011, not because of, but in spite of Angela Merkel's energy policy. Started half-heartedly by politics, badly planned, repeatedly delayed and slowed down, it has developed into a largely independent process.

When the black-and-yellow government reversed its extension after Fukushima, it limited itself to shutting down old reactors and initiating an 11-year-long schedule for the nuclear phase-out, which, while keeping the unreasonable demands of the German nuclear companies low, at the same time unites the German population exposed to the dangers of atomic energy for another decade. The nuclear phase-out was not included in the Basic Law, the atomic factories in Gronau and Lingen, nuclear research and research reactors were excluded from the nuclear phase-out, the Euratom Treaty has not yet been terminated.

Framework conditions for the energy transition were hardly set. Nevertheless, the use of renewable energies has progressed faster than expected, simply because the time was right ...

Sigmar Gabriel - Delay in the expansion of renewable energies

The SPD chairman and Sigmar Gabriel, who was elected Economics and Environment Minister in December 2013, has always been known for campaigning for an end to the use of nuclear power. Some may have associated his appointment with the wish that the nuclear phase-out and the energy transition could perhaps go faster than previously planned. This hope has given way to growing disappointment, as Gabriel continued the inconsistent energy policy of his predecessors Röttgen and Altmaier and increasingly turned out to be an obstacle to the energy transition ...

In August 2014, the Federal Audit Office criticized Merkel's energy policy as uncoordinated and too expensive. Too many federal and state ministries and committees are working on the energy transition at the same time, the division of tasks is unclear, coordination is problematic...

hydraulic fracturing

hydraulic fracturing or short fracking (...) is a method for creating, widening and stabilizing cracks in the rock of a deposit deep underground with the aim of increasing the permeability (permeability) of the deposit rocks. This allows gases or liquids therein to flow more easily and consistently to the well and be recovered.

In fracking, a liquid (frac fluid) is pressed through a well, typically under high pressure of several hundred bars, into the geological horizon from which the fracking is to be carried out. Water is used as the frac fluid, which is usually mixed with proppants, such as e.g. B. quartz sand, and thickeners is added. Usually, several deviated boreholes (laterals) are first created in the target horizon by means of directional drilling, with the drill bit being guided parallel to the layer. As a result, the drill hole length available in the reservoir is significantly greater, which generally increases the production yield. In high-volume hydrofracking, large amounts of liquid are used with more than 1000 m³ per fracking phase or a total of more than 10.000 m³ per borehole ...

greenhouse gas emissions

If the two-degree target for global warming is to be met with a probability of 50%, according to IPCC data, a maximum of between 2011 and 2050 gigatons (billion tons) of carbon dioxide may be released in the period from 870 to 1.240. This requires a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from the status quo, which in turn requires a drastic reduction in the use of fossil fuels. Converted to the global reserves, this means that in the global context, among other things, about a third of the oil reserves, half of the natural gas reserves and more than 80% of the coal reserves must not be burned ...
